Position Summary

Risk Response Team (RRT) is seeking a Lead Electronic Security Technician to lead the installation, commissioning, and service of enterprise electronic security systems. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, project coordination, and customer service to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate is an experienced field leader who can manage technicians, coordinate materials and subcontractors, communicate with customers and project managers, and solve technical challenges while maintaining project schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, programming, commissioning, and service of electronic security systems.
  • Install and troubleshoot access control, video surveillance, intercom, intrusion detection, emergency communications, and related low-voltage systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and construction documents.
  • Install, wire, terminate, label, and test access control panels, intelligent controllers, readers, locking hardware, power supplies, input/output modules, network equipment, and field devices.
  • Configure controllers, servers, workstations, cameras, access control systems, and network-connected devices.
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, quality assurance, and customer demonstrations.
  • Lead daily activities of field technicians and subcontractors while maintaining a safe, productive work environment.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and project schedules to keep projects on track.
  • Review project drawings and verify material requirements before and during installation.
  • Communicate project progress, issues, and change requests with project managers and customers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including redlines, punch lists, testing records, and project closeout documentation.
  • Assist with training and mentoring technicians to improve technical skills and workmanship.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, networking, and field wiring issues.
  • Ensure all work complies with company standards, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.
  • Support service calls and emergency customer requests as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience installing and servicing electronic security or low-voltage systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising technicians on commercial projects.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and safety.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Preferred Experience

  • Enterprise access control systems including Genetec Synergis, LenelS2, Software House C•CURE, Gallagher, Avigilon Alta, Verkada, Brivo, Openpath, Paxton, Kantech, AMAG, Feenics, or similar
  • Video management systems including Genetec Security Center, Milestone, Avigilon Unity, Verkada, Hanwha Vision, Axis Communications, or similar
  • Structured cabling, fiber optic installation, testing, and certification
  • Installation and troubleshooting of access control panels, intelligent controllers, readers, locking hardware, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, and power supplies
  • Network switching, IP addressing, VLANs, and basic networking concepts
  • Windows operating systems and server fundamentals
  • Experience coordinating project schedules, materials, deliveries, and subcontractors
  • Knowledge of door hardware, life safety requirements, and electronic security best practices

  • Manufacturer certifications for access control or video surveillance systems
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • BICSI Installer or Technician
  • Lift and equipment certifications
